Big Springs is one of the headwaters of the Snake River. Located in Island Park, Idaho, this large springs gushes forth large volumes of crystal clear water. Big Springs is known for two things. First, the large trout that are visible from the bridge. Visitor love to feed the fish. Second, for Johnny Sacks cabin.

Camping
There are many beautiful campgrounds around the Island Park area. There is a campground available that will suit your needs.
The Big Springs Campground is located 22 miles south of West Yellowstone, Montana in beautiful Island Park, Idaho at an approximate elevation of 6,300 feet. Visitors love Island Park for its world-class fishing and outstanding scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities.
Natural Features: Island Park is composed of two areas of extinct volcanic activity. The Henry’s Fork Caldera sits inside the larger Island Park Caldera.
The area is known for its dense forests of lodgepole pine, broad grassy meadows bursting with summer wildflowers and a wide variety of wildlife, including black and grizzly bears, moose, elk, deer, bald eagles, Sandhill cranes and much, much more.
The campground is situated in a clearing surrounded by a forest of lodgepole pines. Grasses and summer wildflowers dot the landscape.

The Henry’s Fork of the Snake River, named after Andrew Henry known for discovering and exploring the area in the early 1800s, is arguably one of the finest trout streams in the lower forty-eight states.
In fact Trout Unlimited voted the Henry’s Fork the number one stream in the country. The upper section of the Henry’s Fork is formed where Henry’s Lake Outlet, a lightly fished meadow stream bound by willow trees, meets Big Springs, the primary source of water to the Henry’s Fork.

Horse Back Rides
These trips are the most beautiful rides in the world! The trails are steep, but not dangerous. We ride up onto the high mountain ridges and down into the deep ravines. We usually see wildlife and even in late summer there are still wild-flowers blooming up that high! These rides are fantastic! Mesa Falls
Beginning in gently rolling farmlands, dipping into a tumultuous river confluence, and traveling over the rim of the nation’s largest volcanic caldera, Mesa Falls Scenic Byway takes you through some of southeastern Idaho’s most compelling scenery. In addition to enjoying breathtaking vistas along the route, devotees of intermountain recreation find countless activities to indulge their passions on the route’s 27 miles. Originally a popular path to Yellowstone National Park, the byway offers plenty of reasons to justify a trip in itself.
Your journey begins in the rural town of Ashton. Stop in at one of the restaurants for small-town hospitality and stay the night at a local inn. As you embark on the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway, the first nine miles or so travel through the town’s surrounding potato, barley, and wheat fields.

The Playmill Theatre began as a dream of people who knew what good theatre can do for people’s lives and we are proud to continue on with that dream. As we begin each summer we carefully (and yes even prayer- fully) consider what shows we want to share with our amazing and loyal audiences. We know that we hold a sacred trust of sorts to provide the 35,000 people who walk in our doors a fun night that will provide beautiful memories for years to come. The history of Virginia City, Montana is important to the entire United States because strategic events were worked out in Virginia City during the Civil War. That History begins on 16 June 1863 with the registration of the town site of the new settlement as “Verona”, their spelling of Varina, the wife of the President of the Confederate States of America. Virginia City began as Varina, in Idaho Territory, truly a Rebel town in Union territory during the Civil War.

The 28th annual West Yellowstone SNOWMOBILE EXPO is where Arctic Cat, Skidoo and Yamaha will unveil their new 2019 snowmobile lines to the public for the 1st time in the Rocky Mountain West!
The Western States Vintage Snowmobile Association Annual Show will bring a blast from the past with unique vintage snowmobiles to West Yellowstone, MT. It’s one of the largest gatherings of vintage and antique snowmobiles. Vintage racing will return again with the oval races.

Yellowstone Playhouse
Drew & Julie Durrant, owned and operated Mack’s Inn Playhouse from May 2008 until September 2012. With the Durrant’s at the helm Mack’s Inn Playhouse became a destination for family friendly musicals spoofs for the Greater Yellowstone Area. They would perform 70 shows each summer and squeeze them all in between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
